Tictactoe is the tenth track on Prince’s 36th album Plectrumelectrum (the first by Prince and 3rdEyeGirl).

It is likely the track was recorded in February 2014. The undermentioned magazine quotes Prince describing the recording of the track: “We recorded it in Bryan Ferry’s studio Studio One in London, after a night of partying for which the Cocteau Twins was the soundtrack. You can’t understand the words of Cocteau Twins songs but their harmonies put you in a dreamlike state.” It was first mentioned in an interview with Mojo Magazine released in February 2014, describing the track as an "ethereal new ballad".

The title refers to the traditional two-player paper and pencil game Tic-tac-toe.
