When We’re Dancing Close And Slow is the fourth track on Prince’s second album Prince. In 1980 it was included as the b-side of Dirty Mind, the first single from Prince’s third album Dirty Mind.

Basic tracking took place on 19 April 1979 at Alpha Studios in Burbank, California (on the same day as I Feel For You). Overdubs and mixing took place at Hollywood Sound Recorders in Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles.
