Yankee Doodle Dandy, a cover version of the traditional standard Yankee Doodle from the 18th century, was played live regularly by Prince and the Revolution as a transition on the Purple Rain Tour between Take Me With U and Do Me, Baby. When the Double Live home video of the 30 March 1985, Carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY, USA concert was released in July 1985, the track was included, but was not listed, and when the show was included on DVD as part of the Purple Rain Deluxe Expanded Edition album, it was tracked separately and listed as 'Interlude', but with no mention of it on the artwork. When the same show became available as the posthumous digital album Prince And The Revolution: Live in 2020, the track received the title Yankee Doodle Dandy, although this is a common misnaming of the original 1700s song title, which was Yankee Doodle (read more about the track here). This was corrected to Yankee Doodle with the 2022 release on LP, CD and Blu-Ray
No studio recording of the track is believed to exist.
