Not In The Vault Vol. 1 includes two songs planned for Támar Davis’ 2006 canceled album Milk & Honey: Redhead Stepchild and All Want Is U. The latter was already included on the Holla & Shout promotional single and the Prelude To Támar digital EP. The studio version of Redhead Stepchild was previously not available on 'hard format' as it was only streamed in 2012 in the Támar Davis mobile app. Both tracks feature Prince as writer, producer and musician.

The remaining three songs are from Davis’ own more recent catalog.

The EP was not eligible for charts, having only been released in one location on one day.
