When Back When is an unreleased track written by Marcus Anderson and recorded in August 2014 by NPG Q, a band consisting of John Blackwell, Marcus Anderson, Andrew Gouché and Xavier Taplin.

The basis for the track was recorded live on 10 August 2014 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince added his guitar parts later in August.

When Back When was intended for an album by NPG Q. The project was abandoned when John Blackwell left to tour with D’Angelo in October 2014. Andrew Gouché re-recorded the track with other musicians and released it in 2015 on his "We Don’t Need No Bass" album. The version with Prince’s instrumental and production inputs remains unreleased.
