I’ll Do Anything is an unreleased track first recorded in mid-late March 1992 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions as Make Believe, My Little Pill and a re-recording of Empty Room). The song was written specifically for the James L. Brooks movie I’ll Do Anything. The track was re-recorded in mid-April 1992, at Platinum Studios, Melbourne, Australia (while also on the Diamonds And Pearls Tour, during the same set of sessions as Don’t Talk 2 Strangers, Poor Little Bastard, The Rest Of My Life, There Is Lonely, Be My Mirror, Wow and a re-recording of Make Believe). The track was re-recorded by actor Albert Brooks for the movie, and was included in a rough cut of the movie. This version, produced by Don Was, was included as the eighth and final track on a planned I’ll Do Anything album. While Prince was not directly involved in this version, it is included in the listing here as his own version remains unreleased and was intended as a demo for the soundtrack version. When preview audience reactions to the music were overwhelmingly negative, all production numbers from the film were cut, and the album was abandoned. The song remains unreleased. Additional Information See also Trivia Unreleased Songs I’ll Do Anything unreleased album James L. Brooks reportedly approached other musicians to contribute to I’ll Do Anything besides Prince. Jackson Browne wrote a song specifically for the project called "I’ll Do Anything" (entirely different from Prince’s track). His song was not kept for the movie and the planned sountrack. He nevertheless released it on his 1993 album I’m Alive.
