Hey Man... Smell My Finger is the second and final Paisley Park Records studio album by George Clinton.
The album contained The Big Pump, co-written and co-produced by Prince and George Clinton. Prince also appears (uncredited) singing background vocals on Get Satisfied.
The album features several musical guests including Anthony Kiedis and Flea (both from the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dallas Austin, Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Humpty Hump (from Digital Underground), Ice Cube, N'Dea Davenport, Dr. Dre, Yo-Yo, MC Breed, and Herbie Hancock, as well former P-Funk players Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Maceo Parker, and Fred Wesley, and Prince's own bandmembers Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, as well as The Steeles.
The album's recording sessions ran from 1990-1992. The Big Pump was recorded in early 1990. Recording dates are not known for Get Satisfied, although Prince began including chants from the song into live performances in early 1993, indicating that it may have been recorded late in the sessions. Prince had also contributed the track My Pony, which was not included on the final album. An earlier configuration of the album also contained a different version of We Can Funk than is featured on Graffiti Bridge.
Dis Beat Disrupts also include repeated samples of Prince's song Housequake. Prince clearly liked much of the material - a video for Paint The House Black was played prior to shows on The Ultimate Live Experience tour in 1995, and Prince has played Martial Law and Get Satisfied live (most often in 1994-5).
Hollywood was also included on the 1994 NPG Records compilation album 1-800 New Funk, and Get Satisfied was also referred to on The Exodus Has Begun (from the New Power Generation' album Exodus), in the line "like George said, get satisfied (let's get satisfied, let's get satisfied)".
The album produced two commercially-released singles, Paint The White House Black and Martial Law, but The Big Pump was available as a promotional release sent to radio in Germany only. The album reached only number 145 on the US Billboard Pop Chart, and number 31 on the Billboard R&B Chart.
