Wednesday is the seventh track on the 2018 posthumous album Piano & A Microphone 1983, documenting a solo piano rehearsal by Prince from 1983. A studio version of the track was recorded on 23 October 1983 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was intended to be sung by Jill Jones in the movie Purple Rain, who sang her vocal for it the next day and was included as the fifth track on a 7 November 1983, configuration of Purple Rain. The recording is believed to have been a performance by Prince with Jill Jones, without other musicians.
