My Name Was Prince is the tenth promotional compilation album by Prince to be played in stores to promote the releases of The Hits 1, The Hits 2 and The Hits / The B-Sides. It was available in Japan only in late Summer 1993. Reportedly, only 50 copies were ever distributed.

The CD includes twelve tracks taken from the compilations (except the B-Sides) including three « new songs » from The Hits 1, The Hits 2: Nothing Compares 2 U (Live), Peach and Pink Cashmere.
