Take Me With U was the fifth (and final) commercially-released single from Prince’s sixth album Purple Rain, the first album to be credited to Prince and the Revolution. The single was the fourth to be credited to Prince and the Revolution.
It was released seven months after the album, and received a release in North America, New Zealand, and Japan. The b-side was an edited version of Baby I’m A Star, the original version of which was also taken from Purple Rain.
The single reached number 25 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and number 40 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles Chart.
