Anotherlove is the ninth track on Prince’s 36th album Plectrumelectrum (the first by Prince and 3rdEyeGirl). The track is a cover version of Another Love by American rock, R&B, blues, jazz and soul singer/songwriter Alice Smith (from her 2013 album She), and was written by Alice Smith, Rebecca Jordan and Reginald "Syience" Perry. Prince actually wrote an additional verse for his version, hence the credits on the album stating "adapted from original song by..." Basic tracking is believed to have taken place in mid-to-late July 2013, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was first mentioned by blogger Dr. Funkenberry on 31 July 2013 (along with Funknroll). Additional Information See also Trivia Plectrumelectrum album Anotherlove video Despite the similarly condensed title, this track is unrelated to Prince’s earlier track Anotherloverholenyohead. At the Library Of Congress, the song is listed with other songs published by NPG Music Publishing, LLC., which is not the case for the other covers Prince did throughout his career (One Of Us for example). Therefore, because of its additional verse, and (much like Beggin’ Woman Blues), the song is considered as a song co-written by Prince and not as a simple 'cover'.
