Beatown is an unreleased track, likely recorded in mid-to-late September 1987, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (it may have been tracked first on 19 November 1986 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California, on the same day as Adore, but this has yet to be confirmed). Beatown is thought to have been written specifically for the Graffiti Bridge movie, and some of its lyrics appear in the early drafts (from September and October 1987).
It was included as the sixth track on the 25 September 1988 configuration of the Graffiti Bridge album. Eric Leeds then recorded saxophone overdubs to the track on 30 September 1988, also at Paisley Park Studios, but the song was removed as the album and movie underwent further changes.
The song remains unreleased.
