Da, Da, Da is the eighth track on the third disc of Prince’s 19th album Emancipation, the third album to be credited to .
While exact recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place in March 1996, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions where Scrap D. recorded raps for I Rock, Therefore I Am and Mr. Happy, and shouts for Style). The Emancipation lyric book contains additional lyrics to the rap; Prince had stated in interviews that he wanted each song on the album to end with a positive message, citing Da, Da, Da as a specific example; it’s possible that the rap was shortened to focus more on the positive ending of the song, therefore.
