Dig U Better Dead is the tenth track on Prince’s 18th album Chaos And Disorder, the second album credited to  .
Specific recording dates are not known, but it is likely that the track was recorded in early 1996 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (Rosie Gaines recorded vocals for the album in February and March 1996, but it is not clear if her vocals were overdubbed onto an earlier recording). Shortly before its inclusion on Chaos And Disorder, Dig U Better Dead was placed as the second track of the third disc (twenty-fourth song) on a March/April 1996 configuration of Emancipation.
