Dream is an unreleased song likely recorded initially between October 1991 and mid-1992. A new version was recorded by Prince, Michael B. and Sonny T. on 2 January 1993 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same session that produced Come, Dark, Dolphin and Endorphinmachine). It was submitted for copyright at the Library of Congress (along with Laurianne) on 5 April 1993. It is unknown if this song was intended for, or later considered for, any specific project.
The repeated drum pattern is sampled from When 2 R In Love.
Dream was one of the Vault tracks recorded between 1990 and 1992 slated to appear on the planned Diamonds & Love expected to be released by The Prince Estate in the summer of 2022. That project, which consisted of material spanning both the Diamonds And Pearls and  eras, was reduced to the Diamonds And Pearls era, excluding songs recorded after October 1991 (and this track as a result). Dream remains unreleased.
