Dream Of Fire is the 16th song on the fifth Ana Moura album Desfado from 2012, recorded in May 2012. The track is credited as written by Ana Moura and originally produced by Larry Klein. But in 2018 Moura revealed that it was actually co-written with Prince whom she says wrote the lyrics based on her melody.
A remix by Prince of the track was released as Dream Of Fire (PurpleFireMix) streamed on Prince's 3rd Eye Girl YouTube channel on 12 January 2013. The remix was not officially released commercially.
The song is the only known collaboration between Prince and Ana Moura, who had previously performed on stage with Prince at a concert on 18 July 2010, Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta, Praia do Meco (Palco Super Bock), Aldeia do Meco, Portugal.
The original track contains a Fender Rhodes contribution by legendary American pianist, keyboardist, band-leader and composer Herbie Hancock. His contribution is also included to a lesser degree in Prince's remix, marking the second and last known studio track to feature both Hancock and Prince after Edith And The Kingpin released in 2007 (Herbie Hancock had appeared on George Clinton's Paisley Park Records album Hey Man... Smell My Finger but not on the same songs as Prince).
While specific recording dates are not known, the remix is assumed to have been recorded in late 2012 at Paisley Park Studios Chanhassen, MN, USA.
