Eight is the eighth and final track on Madhouse’s first album 8. Eight was written and produced by Prince (credited only to Madhouse), with flute, saxophone and other musical input by Eric Leeds. No musician is credited on the record.

Basic tracking took place on 1 October 1986 at Prince’s Galpin Blvd Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (the day after Six and Seven, four days before Rescue Me); it is likely that the title was assigned only after the final sequence had been arranged for the album.
