I Don’t Wanna Stop is the eighth and final track on Ren Woods’s second and final album Azz Izz. The track was written by Prince, but re-recorded by Ren Woods, marking the first time Prince gave a track to another artist without contributing to the released recording. The song was removed from later pressings of the album at Prince’s request, although no reason has been given.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in early-to-mid-1980, most likely in Prince’s North Arm Drive Home Studio in Orono, Minnesota (where he lived from December 1979 until late 1980). In 1982 a version was recorded with Vanity on vocals. Although it’s not clear if the song was considered for the Vanity 6 project at the time. At one point, the song was considered for either The Family album or possibly the Mazarati album, and it was re-recorded with The Family around March 1985.
