Latino Barbie Doll is an unreleased song recorded in mid-December 1987 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, during sessions for a proposed fourth album on Paisley Park Records for Sheila E. Sheila E. added vocals to the track on 15 December 1987, also at Paisley Park Studios (the day after the initial version of Lovesexy was recorded, and the day before Dance On). It was included as the fifth track on a 1989 configuration of the album, but the album was abandoned when Sheila E. left Prince’s band and Paisley Park Records in early 1989.
In mid-September 1993, the song was tried out during early sessions for Mayte’s first album at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, most likely retaining the original backing track. It was included as the third track on the album, which was titled Latino Barbie Doll at the time, but the track was removed and the album underwent further changes before being released as Child Of The Sun.
