Let A Woman B A Woman

Let a Woman B A Woman |
|
- First appeared on: Monie Love: In A Word Or 2 (1993)
- Trivia: The song was performed by Monie Love on a date of the Diamonds And Pearls Tour nine months before its release on her In A Word Or 2. Although that album contains two songs co-written by Prince, he was not involved in that song. The title and line "Let a woman be A woman" is taken and sampled from the Dyke And The Blazers Dyke 1969 song Let A Woman Be A Woman. Coincidentally, the full line of the song Dyke And The Blazers Dyke] ("Let a woman be a woman, let a man be a man") was also used in Gett Off (sung by Rosie Gaines and not sampled from this song). Monie Love started working with Prince and Carmen Electra’s album in late 1991 - early 1992, and it is possible that her track was influenced by Gett Off as she rapped her verses on this song when she was invited to perform on stage.
