- In 1997, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes recorded a song that sampled Vanity 6’s Nasty Girl. This track, probably also titled "Nasty Girl", was produced by Trackmasters and contained alternate verses written by Lopes. Although Prince reportedly liked the song, he did not give permission to use the sample, thus preventing its release.
- TLC covered two songs written by Prince: Get It Up and If I Was Your Girlfriend. Get It Up was included on the 1993 Poetic Justice soundtrack. It was also released as a single and reached number 3 on the Billboard Dance Singles Sales, 15 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and position 42 on Billboard Hot 100. Their version of If I Was Your Girlfriend, sung by T-Boz and produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs, Dallas Austin and Chucky Thompson, was included on their second album CrazySexyCool, released in 1994.
- Prince has shown his support for TLC on several occasions during their career. When they were having difficulty renegotiating their contract with LaFace Records, he shouted "Free TLC" at the end of a TV-performance in 1996. He introduced TLC as his 'favorite group' at the 1999 MTV Awards and guested on one of their show (on 21 January 2000 at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, USA) to play a guitar solo on No Scrubs.
