Early Life
|
Mike Scott started playing guitar in Washington D.C. local clubs by the age of 13. After graduating from the Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts he began a career on tours with Juicy and Peaches & Herb.

Early Musical Career
|
Relocating to Minneapolis, Scott worked with Sounds of Blackness before becoming a session guitarist for Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who put him to work on albums they were producing, amongst them: Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Gladys Knight and Janet Jackson. He worked for them for 12 years.

Work With Prince
|
In 1996, after Jam and Lewis moved to Los Angeles, Mike Scott was asked to join Prince's band for rehearsal sessions. Shortly afterwards he was enlisted as guitar player in The NPG and remained an on and off member ever since.

After Working With Prince
|
In 2007 Mike Scott joined Justin Timberlake’s band (together with John Blackwell) as lead guitar player for the FutureSex/LoveShow tour. Scott also performed in Timbaland’s band in 2010 for the Shock Value II tour. He’s also performed live with Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Maroon 5, Jermaine Jackson and Alicia Keys.

Current Work
|
In 2009 Mike Scott replaced Jef Lee Johnson as guitar player of fusion jazz quartet Ursus Minor.
