While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking is believed to have taken place in Spring or early Summer 2000 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was tentatively included as the eighth track on the aborted High album, announced by NPGOnlineLtd.com to be complete (in rough form) on 8 August 2000, which was later aborted.
Whether intentionally or not, the song's music is largely based upon Eric Burdon and War's 1970 song Spill The Wine (written by War), but no writer's credits were given upon My Medallion's release.
Although recorded while Prince was using the name , the track was credited to Prince upon release, so it is credited as such here.
