NPG is a social media channel (Twitter/Soundcloud) through which are posted videos and audio streams of Prince & The NPG recent studio and/or live work.
On 2 october 2013, a clip of Big City was posted on a Soundcloud account named New Power Generation and promoted by a brand new @NPGofficial twitter account. Several members of Prince's band The NPG self promoted the new Twitter account by posting and retweeting on the newly created twitter feed.
The self description of the channel states:"Being asked about the best concert you’ve seen is a common query for a music critic... PRINCE & NPG at City Winery in the early hours of Monday morning. [NYPost]"The channel is an official one and is likely to continue to stream on a regular basis all through end of 2013 as well as advertise future projects (website, album).
The NPG twitter account also serves a promotion purpose for Prince's other activities on internet media as they also retweet streams posted on 3rdEyeGirl social media channels.
