Ooh This I Need (a.k.a. Oooh This I Need) is the sixth track on Elisa Fiorillo’s second album, I Am, and, following the album’s release, Oooh This I Need was available as the album’s second and final single; of note is that the single, and the tracks on it, were written as "Oooh This I Need". The track was written and produced by Prince, who also appears as a musician on the track. Of the five tracks on the album Prince contributed to, this was the only one he also produced.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in December 1989 or early 1990 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Elisa Fiorillo performed the song live in a medley (with On The Way Up and/or Love’s No Fun) on American TV shows in early 1991 with new arrangements. These performances were based on a "rehearsal demo" created by Prince and and his band and submitted to Elisa and her band. Some musical ideas from these new arrangements for Ooh This I Need were reused to create Push.
