Prince And The Band is an unreleased song which has been played live by Prince occasionally during concerts from 2002 to 2012 (from 2007 onwards, it was usually sung following Musicology, with the same backing music). At least one studio recording is known to exist, played over the PA at afterparties on the 21 Nights In London : The Earth Tour residency in 2007. It is likely that a studio recording was made in May 2002 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during a break in the One Nite Alone... Tour), perhaps followed by a re-recording or update in 2007, but this is unconfirmed. In 2002-4 performances of the song, Prince would use the line "Warner Bros. used to be a friend of mine / now they're just a monumental waste of time"; in later performances, he would change the first part of the line to "record labels used to be a friend of mine".
