Resolution is the tenth and final track from Prince’s 32nd album Planet Earth.
While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place on 4 April 2006 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (although possibly at Circle House Miami, Florida) on the same day as Della Blackheart. Former Revolution bandmembers Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman are credited on the album without any specific track credits (as is the case with all musicians involved on the album), but it is believed that they contributed to this track (as well as The One U Wanna C). It is not known when or where their contribution was recorded, however.
Resolution was included as the twelfth track on a 2007 configuration of Lotusflower (later slightly renamed Lotusflow3r for release), but along with several other tracks from the configuration, it instead became part of the emerging Planet Earth album.
Prior to the release of Planet Earth, Resolution was mistitled 'Revelation' on some pre-release tracklists. Since there was no tracklist available on the original 2007 release of the album, this is still often listed incorrectly online. (Prince later recorded an unrelated track using that title; see Revelation for details.)
