Don’t Say Goodbye Girl was the sixth single to be released from Tevin Campbell’s second album I’m Ready. It was released a year after the album, in the US and Japan only.
While the single’s title track Don’t Say Goodbye Girl featured no input by Prince, the single contained various remixes of the song The Halls Of Desire, which featured Prince as a writer, producer and performer. Other remixes of the song The Halls Of Desire were included on The Halls Of Desire maxi-singles, which were released in Japan and Australia two months before this single.
Curiously, the Don’t Say Goodbye Girl single featured more remixed versions of The Halls Of Desire than of its main track. Moreover, these remixes of The Halls Of Desire were not available on any other single besides Don’t Say Goodbye Girl until they were later compiled on the digital release The Halls Of Desire (Remixes), made available in June 2022.
Don’t Say Goodbye Girl reached number 71 on the US Billboard Pop Chart, and number 28 on the Billboard R&B Chart.
