Love On A Blue Train was the first single to be released from Sheila E.’s third album Sheila E., released the year before the album in Japan only. A one-minute video in which Sheila sings the track with her band was created for a TV-advertisement for the HiFI Maclord VCR model manufactured by National in Japan (aired a few days after the single release).
Rather than being accompanied by a traditional 12" release, Love On A Blue Train was followed by The Glamorous Club Dance EP, a four-track maxi-single which contained the full-length version of Love On A Blue Train (not available elsewhere) as its first track, along with remixes and extended versions of The Glamorous Life, Sister Fate and The Belle Of St. Mark (all of which had been released on their respective singles in other territories).
The maxi-single was billed as a separate EP release, but is included here for the sake of clarity.
The single did not enter the charts.
