Ten And ½ was released as the b-side of 10, the first single from Madhouse’s second and final album 16. The track was written and performed by Prince, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer, Jr. and Sheila E. (credited as Madhouse).
Basic tracking took place on 30 July 1987, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (the day after The Sex Of It, during the same one-day session that produced Eleven, Fifteen, Ten, and three instrumentals later named Night Owl, Overnight, Every Night and Andorra, and the day before Twelve and another instrumental later named Kenya); it is likely that the title was assigned only after the track was chosen as the b-side of the single 10.
