Tres is an unreleased instrumental recorded on 26 June 1988, during a one-day session between Prince, Sheila E. and Eric Leeds for a projected album by Madhouse (during the same session as Uno, Dos, and an instrumental later re-worked and released as Cape Horn). It is possible that the track titles were assigned at a later time, instead of at the time of recording.

It was mixed on 5 October 1988 (along with Uno and Dos), but it is unknown if this track was seriously considered for the planned third Madhouse album, 24 when Prince worked on the album in December 1988, although Sheila E. was not involved in the December sessions, so it is likely these tracks were not considered.

The title is Spanish for "Three", continuing Madhouse’s tradition of numbered tracks, but the track is not related to the Madhouse track Three in any other way.
