Two is the second track on Madhouse’s first album 8. Two was written and produced by Prince (credited only to Madhouse), with saxophone and musical input by Eric Leeds. No musician is credited on the record. Later in 1987, it was included as the fourth and final track on the 12" single of 10, the first single from Madhouse’s second album 16.

Basic tracking took place on 28 September 1986 at Prince’s Galpin Blvd Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (recorded in sequence after Baby Doll House and One, the day before Three, Four and Five), although it is credited as being recorded at "Madhouse Studios", Pittsburgh, PA, USA (a fictional studio). It is likely that the title was assigned only after the final sequence had been arranged for the album.
