U're Gonna C Me is the second track on Prince's 25th album One Nite Alone..., but four months before the album's release, on 17 January 2002, the track was released as an mp3 as part of NPG Music Club Edition # 12, the final edition of the first year of the NPG Music Club. In 2009, a re-recorded version of the track was included as the fourth track on Prince's 34th album MPLSound, and, nine months after the album's release, U're Gonna C Me was available as a promo single in France.
Specific recording dates are unknown, but it is believed that initial tracking took place in Spring 2001 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (along with the rest of the One Nite Alone... album), during the mastering of The Rainbow Children album. It is likely that the MPLSound version of the track was recorded in 2008 - early 2009 at either Paisley Park Studios or 77 Beverly Park, Hollywood, CA, USA, but this has not been confirmed.
