New Power Generation is a Prince video released for broadcast and to promote the single.
Like Thieves In The Temple, New Power Generation mixes the performance of the song from the Graffiti Bridge movie and miscellaneous footage from the film, including scenes and shots that did not appear in the final cut. The song is often interrupted by sound bites and dialogue from the movie.
Two versions of the video were created for broadcast: the album version and a slighly longer one using the Funky Weapon Remix with additional footage from the film. The latter was not uploaded by The Prince Estate on Prince YouTube channel in 2017.
Of note, the video features Rosie Gaines’ first appearance in a Prince video.
