Way Back When is an unreleased track written by Andrew Gouché and recorded in August 2014 by NPG Q, a band consisting of John Blackwell, Marcus Anderson, Andrew Gouché and Xavier Taplin.

The basis for the track was recorded live during a show by NPG Q on 10 August 2014 (a.m.) at Paisley Park Studios ('NPGMC Room') in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince added his guitar parts later in August.

Way Back When was intended for an album by NPG Q. The project was abandoned when John Blackwell left to tour with D’Angelo in October 2014. Andrew Gouché re-recorded the track with other musicians and released it in 2015 on his "We Don’t Need No Bass" album. The version with Prince’s instrumental and production inputs remains unreleased.
