Yes is the eleventh song of the tenth posthumous album Welcome 2 America (the first full previously-unreleased studio album of Prince material). A tape photographed in Prince’s vault at Paisley Park Studios has the song listed, dated 15 March 2010, which alludes this is the exact date for the recording (during sessions that yielded material for the Welcome 2 America album, on the same day as the title track and Dance 2 The Higher). The tape also includes a track titled Yes (mid tempo), which is thought to be an alternate mix of the same track, although this is unconfirmed. The song was worked on further in the spring with Shelby J., Elisa Dease and Liv Warfield and additional production by Morris Hayes.
