You Should Be Mine (or U Should Be Mine) is an unreleased song recorded, presumably in March 1982 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (around the time of You’re My Love). It’s not known if the track was intended for Prince’s next album 1999, or any other project at the time of recording, and little is known about the track.
In July 1989, Prince gave the track, now retitled U Should Be Mine, (along with Evolsidog, My Summertime Thang, Pickle, You’re All I Want, Wet Dream Cousin, Vibrator, The Max and XYZ) to Eric Leeds to consider reworking for a new Madhouse album (later called 26, which later evolved into Eric Leeds’ solo album Times Squared). It is not known if Eric Leeds worked on the track further; it was not included on any known configuration of the album.
