New World (originally titled Love 4 1 Another) is the second track on the third disc of Prince’s 19th album Emancipation, the third album to be credited to , and, eleven months before the album’s release, the track was included as the b-side of the album’s first promotional single, Slave, which was given out as a cassette single at a Paisley Park Studios show on 9 December 1995 (the same show where the Crystal Ball version of Days Of Wild was recorded and the studio version of One Of Us was premiered). In 2002, New World was included in a mega-mix (mixed in with Hot Wit U (Remix) and Partyman) included as the main part of NPG Ahdio Show # 11 (the final edition of the show), which in late 2003 was announced as being part of the The Chocolate Invasion 7 CD set under the name Glam Slam Club Mix, but the set was abandoned, supposedly due to technical difficulties. Basic tracking took place late January 1994 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, as Love 4 1 Another (this title was later used for an unrelated track - see Love 4 1another for details). It was inspired by the Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles on 17 January 1994. The track was planned as the b-side of the single The Most Beautiful Girl In The World (under its original title), but Warner Bros. did not allow Prince to release more than one song independently, so instead Prince (as ) recorded Beautiful, which has a similar beat and musical feel to New World. The song was slated as the second track on the 1995 New World album project, a precursor to what became the album Emancipation. The track was also played in the background of advertisements on Minneapolis-area radio stations to advertise the Love 4 One Another series of parties and concerts at Paisley Park Studios, which ran from August to December 1995 (see here for more details). The track was premiered in full by DJ Brother Jules at a Paisley Park Studios party on 25 November 1995, and played on Minneapolis radio station KMOJ the same week.
