Can't Stop This Feeling I Got is the first track on Prince's twelfth album Graffiti Bridge, and, in late 1990, was released as the album's third Prince single (in the Philippines only) and sixth single overall (a single by Tevin Campbell, one by Mavis Staples, and another by The Time were also released). The track is also featured in the movie Graffiti Bridge. Basic tracking took place in Spring 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, along with several other tracks that would re-appear over the next several years. The track was re-recorded on 17 June 1986 at the Washington Avenue Warehouse in Edina, Minnesota (in sequence after Data Bank and before We Can Funk, the day before recording Girl O' My Dreams). These recordings were intended for an aborted musical tentatively titled Dream Factory. This version of Can't Stop This Feeling I Got was later sent to Three O'Clock for consideration along with Neon Telephone, Girl O' My Dreams, We Can Funk and Teacher, Teacher, but the band decided to use only Neon Telephone. Can't Stop This Feeling I Got was re-recorded in 1989 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and was included as the first track on a late 1989 configuration of Graffiti Bridge, where it remained for a 1990 configuration and the final release. The original 1982 verison was released in 2019 as the seventh track on the Vault Tracks part 2 disc of a Deluxe edition of the 1999 album. Additional Information See also Trivia Graffiti Bridge album 1999 Deluxe album Can't Stop This Feeling I Got single Graffiti Bridge movie The released mix of the 1982 version was done by Nick Bolas specifically for the 1999 Deluxe release. It was made to replicate the original mix from the time the song was initially tracked, as much as possible. So even when a slightly different mix of this track might exist, the now released version is not considered a true alternate mix of the track. In the notebook, where Prince wrote his (undated) synopsis for what would become the movie Purple Rain I Can't Stop This Feeling I Got is listed as one of the songs to be included in the film.
