Dinner With Delores was the first and only single to be released from Prince's 18th album Chaos And Disorder, the second album to be credited to . It was released a month prior to the album, and was released commercially only in the UK, Germany and Japan, while in the USA it was only available as a promotional release. A few days prior to the single's release, on 7 June, 1996, Warner Bros. streamed the song in RealAudio format on a special website dedicated to Chaos And Disorder, www.wbr.com/chaosanddisorder, the first time a Prince track had premiered officially online. A promotional cassette was also sent to members of the 'Controversy' fan club on the same date to commemorate Prince's 38th birthday. Additional Information Promotion (at time of release) Triva Prince (as ) appeared twice on American TV performing Dinner With Delores shortly before the album's release, although since the single was not available in the USA, these performances were promotion for the album more than the single. He appeared first on The Late Show With David Letterman on 2 July, 1996 (matinee), and then on The Today Show's Summer Concert Series, on 9 July, 1996 (morning). Warner Bros. promotion plans for the single were described in Billboard on 15 June 1996 issue (page 67). The single would be made available in RealAudio format on the Warner Bros. promotional site www.wbr.com/chaosanddisorder and a one-minute sample would be available for download on AOL platform. In addition, a downloadable sample of the video, lyrics of the song, a screen-saver and biography information would complete the online promotion pack to be featured on www.wbr.com/chaosanddisorder.
