Come On is the eighth track on the New Power Generation’s third and final ’solo' album Newpower Soul, and, three and a half months after the album’s release, Come On was released as the album’s first and only commercially-released single (The One was previously available as a promotional single), containing several remixes of the track.
While specific recording dates are now known, basic tracking took place between May and December 1997, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The track was first played over a PA system during an afterparty at Tipitina’s Warehouse in New Orleans, LA, on 2 January 1998. Remixes were likely recorded in 1998 at Paisley Park Studios, but specific recording information is not known.
