| No Sound But A Heart is the eighth full-length studio album by Sheena Easton.
The album contained the track Eternity, written by Prince.
Although Eternity was released as a single in this territory in June 1987, the album’s U.S. release was postponed several times before ultimately being cancelled due to conflicts between Easton and her record label, even though it was distributed in other parts of the world.
Sessions and compiling
Eternity was recorded in December 1985, with Sheena Easton recording lead vocal overdubs in 1986 or early 1987. The track was written, produced and largely performed by Prince, although only his writing contribution was credited to him. He was credited as 'Rocker Happyfeller' for keyboards and 'Freddie "The Phantom"' for guitar, while the production was credited to David Leonard.
Promotion
The album yielded only one single, Eternity, which failed to chart in either the U.S. or the U.K.
The album was reissued in 1999 with four additional songs recorded during the same sessions including the non-album track (released as the b-side of the Eternity single) Shockwave, which features writing contribution by Jesse Johnson. In 2024, the album was remastered and re-released on (purple) vinyl with no additional track.
No Sound But A Heart was remastered and reissued once again in 2025 as part of Strut - The Complete EMI Recordings Volume II. This edition included several previously unreleased versions of Eternity (an alternate vocal take, a Shep Pettibone mix, and alternate 7" and 12" versions).
