Future Soul Song is the third track from Prince’s 35th album 20Ten. Initial recording dates are unknown, but engineer H.M. Buff has stated that he was involved in recording the song, indicating that it was recorded between 1996 and 2000. Other re-recording dates and studio are tentative, but it is likely the track was reworked in August 2008 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California.
A live-band version of the song was included as the fourth track on a (late Summer 2008) configuration of Lotusflow3r but was removed before the album’s release.
A tape photographed in Prince’s vault at Paisley Park Studios lists it together with Sticky Like Glue with a date of 20 November 2009 alluding it was worked on on that date as well.
