Rave Un2 The Year 2000 was the 15th Prince home video to be released and sixth live concert released on Home Video format.

The footage comes from a pay per view broadcast of the same name shown on 31 December 1999. The main feature is an edited version of a concert at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, on 18 December 1999 (with additional footage from a performance by Morris Day & The Time from a concert the previous day). The main feature lasts approximately 113 minutes, with special features and "bonus groovez" lasting an additional 20 minutes.

The home video contained guest appearances by Lenny Kravitz, the Excelsior Choir, Rosie Gaines and Maceo Parker. George Clinton also appeared during a lengthy medley of his songs during the concert, but on the home video only a short portion of Flash Light was included as a bonus track.

The home video (VHS and DVD) release under the name came a month after the press conference at which reverted to using the name Prince. In 2006, the home video was re-released using the name Prince on the cover.

A box-set named Ultimate Rave containing Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic albums and the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 DVD was released in 2019.
