On The Couch is the tenth track on Prince’s 28th studio album Musicology, and, five weeks after the album’s download release, it was included as the b-side of Musicology, the album’s first single.
Tracking took place in January 2003 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Later in 2003 On The Couch was re-recorded at Metalworks Studios, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Recording engineer L. Stu Young said that Prince recorded The Marrying Kind, If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life and On The Couch back-to-back at Metalworks Studios, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Horn overdubs were added by Candy Dulfer, Maceo Parker and Greg Boyer on 19 January 2004.
