Plectrumelectrum is the fourth track on Prince’s 36th album Plectrumelectrum (the first by Prince and 3rdEyeGirl). The track is an instrumental composed by Donna Grantis, originally released by her own Donna Grantis Electric Band’s 2012 album Suites, under the name Elektra (Elektra Suite). Whether intentionally or not, the music is similar to Led Zeppelin’s 1973 song The Ocean (from their album Houses Of The Holy).

The second half of the studio recording of the track was streamed as a video, on the Vimeo account of photographer Madison Dube, and linked on the 3rd Eye Girl social media channels on 13 March, 2013. The video begins with the caption "An extremely short film". Although "3rdEyeGirl" was captioned as an artist credit, Prince is shown as the lead guitarist and bandleader. The video of the full recording was played during the Yahoo! Live album release party on 30 September 2014.

While specific recording dates are not known, the track is assumed to have been recorded in early March, 2013, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA.
