Poppa Grooves is an unreleased instrumental recorded at some point in Summer 1981 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during the same session as Controversy and Tick, Tick, Bang). The track includes some bluesy guitar in the vein of Pops Staples, after whom the track is named (Pops Staples would years later play guitar on The Undertaker as well as sing on You Will Be Moved). Engineer Chuck Zwicky remixed the track in 1988 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, but the purpose of this remix is unknown. The track remains unreleased.
