Poppa Grooves is an unreleased instrumental recorded at some point in Summer 1981 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same session as Controversy and Tick, Tick, Bang). The track includes some bluesy guitar in the vein of Pops Staples, after whom the track is named (Pops Staples would years later play guitar on The Undertaker as well as sing on You Will Be Moved).

In 1988, Prince asked his engineer Chuck Zwicky to pull out the track from the vault (along with Eros, Rain, Extraloveable and Rearrange) and mix it: "When he was on the Lovesexy Tour, I was assigned to go in the vault and provide mixes for songs that had never been mixed." It is not known if there was other plans for that song at that time.

The track remains unreleased.
