Simp The Pimp is an unreleased song recorded on 12 March 1991 at Larrabee Sound Studios in North Hollywood, California (three days after Carmen On Top, two days before Waiting 4 Your Love).
The song features vocals by Ingrid Chavez although it was likely not intended for her May 19, 1992.
The track's title is likely inspired by the song P.I.M.P. The S.I.M.P. by Rick James (featuring Grandmaster Flash) from his album Cold Blooded (1983), but it doesn't have other similarities with the song. in 2019 Ingrid Chavez has said she wrote it about Lenny Kravitz in response to the the drama that went down with the song Justify My Love that she wrote but Lenny Kravitz initially took sole-credit for. The song uses the same beat that is heard in Justify My Love.
Although Ingrid doesn't recall Prince having anything to do with the song it was cut amid sessions at Larrabee Sound Studios where Prince was recording, so his contribution at some capacity is still assumed.
