Hippy Blood was the second and final commercial single to be released from Ingrid Chavez’s eponymous album, and was released six months after the album. It received a release in the USA and Japan only.
The title track did not originally contain any Prince input, but two remixes included on the single (as well as an edit of one of the remixes) were remixed by Prince.
The single also contained Whispering Dandelions, which was co-written, produced and had music performed by Prince, and was also taken from the album.
The Japanese version of the single, titled Hippy Blood EP, also contained some remixes of Elephant Box, which was also co-written, produced and had music performed by Prince. The remixes had been previously available on the Elephant Box, which had not been available in Japan.
The single did not enter the charts.
